The 21st Judicial District Bar Association is there to help those within the legal profession to further their skills, share new and improved ideas, as well as to meet your fellow attorneys.

 

We are also here to help facilitate the melding of our seasoned attorneys with our new attorneys and to assist in coming together to help each other in furthering careers and making leaps and bounds into the future.

Britney Duke

PRESIDENT

Britney Duke, a licensed Louisiana Attorney, and proud native of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Britney earned her Bachelor degree in Marketing from Southeastern Louisiana University. She then continued her education at Southern University Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, and graduated in the Top 5% of her class.

Britney is the owner of B Duke Law Firm, LLC. She also partners with True Title for all Real Estate Closings. Britney’s legal practice is primarily in the areas of Personal Injury, Adoptions, Criminal Defense, and Real Estate Transactions.

She is grateful to serve as the President of the 21st Judicial Bar Association. When not practicing law, Britney enjoys serving on the Baptism team at Healing Place Church, Skydiving, Fishing, traveling, and spending time with her beloved fur-baby Saint, family and friends.

Jesse P. Lagarde

VICE-PRESIDENT

A Louisiana native, Jesse P. Lagarde received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University, where he studied English literature, political science, and philosophy. Mr. Lagarde received his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern University Law Center, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and a member of the SULC’s Law Review Journal and Maritime Law Society.  During his matriculation, Mr. Lagarde worked as a law clerk at both the state appellant court and federal district court.   

 

Following his 2015 admission to the Louisiana Bar, Mr. Lagarde worked as a staff attorney for the 21st Judicial District Court, primarily in criminal, civil, and family law divisions. Mr. Lagarde previously worked with the law firms of Seale & Ross of Hammond, Louisiana, and Chehardy Sherman Williams of Metairie, Louisiana.  In 2020, Mr. Lagarde opened a private practice firm in Hammond, Louisiana, where he practices in the areas of commercial transactions and litigation, debt collection and creditors’ rights, probate and succession litigation, estate planning, real estate, appellate proceedings, personal injury, and domestic litigation. In addition to his private practice, Mr. Lagarde is an attorney with the Office of the Public Defender, as well as volunteering through the Pro Bono Project with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services.  In 2020, Mr. Lagarde was a recipient of the Pro Bono Publico Award for his outstanding services to Louisiana’s indigent.   

 

In addition to his practice, Mr. Lagarde serves as an officer of the 21st Judicial District Bar Association and is a member of the Florida Parish Inns of Court and the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Indigo Kate Diekmann

SECRETARY

Indigo Kate Diekmann was born in Aspen, Colorado. She returned to her family's home state of Louisiana as a third generation Louisiana State University Tiger. She graduated with her Juris Doctor and Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law in May of 2020 at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. While at LSU Law, Indigo served in executive positions for the Board of Advocates and the Student Bar Association. Upon graduation she was named a member to the Order of Barristers and the Wex Malon American Inn of Court for her skill in Advocacy and dedication to integrity in the field of Law. She remains an active alumni member of the LSU Law Advocacy Program.

 

After passing the 2021 Louisiana Bar, Indigo began working as an associate at Cashe, Coudrain and Bass. She is a proud supporter of the Southeastern Collegiate Recovery Program, and Tankproof - a non profit that gives youth in under-served communities life-saving swim instruction. She is a member of The Louisiana State University Tiger Athletic Foundation, The Southeastern Louisiana University Lions Athletic Association, The FeLions, and the Tangipahoa Parish Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Committee.

Abigael L. Foster

TREASURER

Abigael L. Foster was born and raised in Mansura, Louisiana. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University at Alexandria in 2017. Ms. Foster attended Southern University Law Center where she received her Juris Doctorate in December of 2020. Ms. Foster was sworn in as an attorney for the state of Louisiana in May of 2021 and began working with the Law Office of Sonja T. Castella in July of 2021.

Ms. Foster’s areas of practice include Family Law, Criminal, Personal Injury, Adoptions, Successions, and Tribal Law.
